Google Classroom Tip for the iPad

If you started using Google Classroom this year and your school is using iPads, I noticed a few consistent issues today when students brought their iPads into our tech force room. When students get the email from you, the teacher, and if they are using the Gmail app, the link to your classroom will open up within the app. This will not allow them to click on assignments or docs. This also occurs if students are using the Google Search App. If they are using the iOS Mail App, it will automatically take them to Safari and ask them to log into their GAFE account. Once they log in they will have full access to your Google classroom.
My suggestion is to have students…
go to Safari >
sign in >
and once they land on the classroom page have them bookmark the site and add it to their home screen.
Also, make sure they have Google Drive downloaded along with the stand alone Google docs and Google Sheets apps. This should allow them to work directly within those apps and not have to work on the desktop version of Google drive which is a bit clunky. I’m sure this will be one of many posts detailing the integration of Google Classroom. If you have any questions about this process, please post in the comments below.
